TOO LATE

It is never too late
To put up a fight
The moon may be up
While the sun may be down

It does not mean life can not wear a smile
The stars and moon makes life beautiful
In as much the sun brings warmth
To the world after winter is gone

The man pulling a chart across the street
Might not be rich as the person working in a bank
Because he does not put on a red tie and black suit
Does not mean he had to beg to feed

The trees do not beg the earth for water
Yet she grows tall and reach the sky
Under her wings the birds nest for shelter
The earth restored by the little seeds that falls off her heels

Life sometimes teaches us silly lessons
Like a man who tills the ground to feed
He does not need to fight for freedom
His house got all the resources they need

Watch around you oh beloved brother
Does death have the mandate
To walk about knocking at a helpless woman's door
Stop the hate and life will be filled once again with joy

WHEN

A poem dedicated to Roy Inyang as requested by Abimbola Otu

When the sun is gone, the night weary of stars
When the sea is licked up and life full of scars

When the heart can't bear to love anymore
The world mournful of souls she can't care for

When all you have left are blank memories
Of the choices you have to make which are not fair

When hope and faith is completely forsaken
For so long you've waited but time is running

When you can't find a reason not to get hurt
Look beyond your dreams, for you will find

I will always be there to make you smile
For friends stick together till the end of time
