WHEN

A poem dedicated to Roy Inyang as requested by Abimbola Otu

When the sun is gone, the night weary of stars
When the sea is licked up and life full of scars

When the heart can't bear to love anymore
The world mournful of souls she can't care for

When all you have left are blank memories
Of the choices you have to make which are not fair

When hope and faith is completely forsaken
For so long you've waited but time is running

When you can't find a reason not to get hurt
Look beyond your dreams, for you will find

I will always be there to make you smile
For friends stick together till the end of time

LOVE AT REST

Love at Rest (20) :::Days will pass !

To have your caring smile's refulgence an encore, for sure ;

I search you everywhere from dense forests to seashore.
When i look at heart's page for your merrier loving face,
Fair amount of grooming emotion sensitises your resurgence.

By your steering love my swelling heart inscribes few words

To be beside you and on the lap of your protected world.
I seek more presence of guardian angel , my healing agent,
The blooming intimacy enflames that'll never be left .

Moving unto my quest again i look up the blue sky.

Holding your solemn fingers solidity finds stakes on high,
A jar of beliefs regenerates for all time dreaming star.
But , Alas! A wish repeatedly collides with God's car.

My fettered heart takes off higher from ashes of mass

"Life is a thrashing crash and my days will pass."

THE SAINT

As you fighting on that sickbed

We out here hoping this ain't the end

The doctor assured us nothing will go wrong

Mama said just like papa you're strong

Hey do you remember the coffeeshop lady

The one you stole my card to buy her a teddy

Yes I remember her name Hannah

She brought you her smile and a banana

I hope you recall how you bragged about it

She's hoping you'll say something or just eat

You not a priest but your favorite place was the temple

You said it was the best hideout even from the devil

You got everyone's attention

They all pray for a benediction

Though I was the black sheep of the family

You believed in me honestly

In scorching sun you're like a patch of shade

You touched our hearts and now you want to fade

You never hesitated to swim against the tide

Every narrow path you took you made it wide

In an endless desert you're like an oasis

You never hesitated to take your chances

On a bruised heart you're like a soothing balm

Oh! Please open your eyes we'll slaughter the fat ram

In our darkest nights you're like the moon

We all hope you get well soon.
