ONCE UPON A TIME

On a cold evening in December when harmattan was at its peak
An angel was in labor, the world excited
And the evening was full of stars
It was barely few days to Christmas
The moon's brighter; she didn't want to miss a moment of joy
For there it was conceived, a bounty of joy

There was a thunderous whisper in the air
The trees dancing in their colorful leaves
Like the morning should never dawn
I think it was Sunday, for it was a perfect day to be happy
If not, how could one tell why the cloud's rejoicing?

Cheerfulness filling the sky
The drummer beats the drum as the people dance with joy
Pleasantry exchanged with claps and hugs as everyone started singing
Aloud you can hear a thunderous shout, daring the night not to slip by
As we celebrate a birth envied by the gods
Birth of a child destined and crowned for greatness

THIS IS LAGOS

A city of kings and queens
A city there is no night
Angels walk on the street of Lagos
A city resting by the ocean and sea

A city of hope and dreams
A city every man is regarded a brother
A city the cloud rest on her borders
A city of refuge, mother to the world

A city builds to uplift man's faith
A city bond with love and affection
Across every tribe and religion
A city, life is cherished and appreciated

A city of challenges and breakthrough
A city close to the gate of heaven
Men and heroes are forged out of the streets of Lagos
In the city of Lagos, the sun rises in our heart

STORY OF MY LIFE

I was a little boy born without a silver spoon
Sat upon my dream as she struggle to survive
The world seems to be lonely just as I was
We sat by the hill figuring each others thought

One night, the wind whispered to me
Only if you believe can you thrive
I went to fetch for firewood as much can find
To burn away the misery of self doubt

I journeyed into the night
With zeal burning in my heart
Holding on to God's words stretched out
And cast my burden and fear out

In rainy nights, inasmuch as sunny days
My childhood missed the presence of the stars
Time was running faster than my dream
So I made a deal to be the best of self

Through college, trouble seems to find me
But never did I allow life to get the best of me
I light a lamp in my heart
Bought oil to fuel the flame inside

Every day am hustling the sun walks behind me
Stacks away doubts from an ambitious mind
As the ship set sail towards my dream
I found love and the warmest of a friend

I wrote my dreams on the brick of time
And slept off while the night was at her prime
Woke up in a world made of rubies
No more weariness in the heart

In a twinkling of an eye, life took a bow
My dreams became bolder and stronger
It climbed to the end of the ladder
And the sun stood still for ever
