SCARED OF LOVE

You are getting cold feet
Every time I asked you out on a date
You do not have to keep avoiding me
Your secrets are safe with me

Love sometime get us hurt with scars
Makes one lose everything she has
Self confidence, trust and  charming smile
Leaving the heart emotionally bankrupt to die

I am not a devil you projected men to be
I am not perfect, this I would not disagree
But I have a conscience, just as much as you
To sit beside you, cherish you is all I want to do

I know what you have been through
I promise to be there for you
Please permit me to hold your hand
To be a friend you can rely on until the end

Your heart is broken before
I know you are scared of falling in love
I will treasure you with every bit of my heart
Do not despise me for trying to love you as deserved

AGAINST ALL ODDS

To my good friend Abimbola Otu.. May the stream of love she has found, flows into a river of everlasting joy.

How can I think I could love you equally?
I can never measure the length of your love
The first time you touched me, my heart melted completely
When ever I look into your eyes, I see love

Like a hostage held in a getaway car
I am unconditionally indebted to you
Where ever the destination, no matter how far
I am content as long I am with you

We can leave the world behind us
Lean my love on you, that is all I want to do
Let us go somewhere no one can find us
Any place is home as long we see it through

People say look at them, they are naive
Against the odds, we can not make it
I am thankful we never adhered to thoughts negative
See how far we have gone, together we beat it

After all this time, you are still the one I love
Everyday, the feeling in my heart is brand new
I found a priceless treasure no one thought I could have
This is but all thanks to you

IN THE MORNING

I woke up five o clock in the morning
All I see around me is a world burning
I can not imaging such harmful stories
What I hear every where is human decries

Political diseases eating the people
Human sacrifice and rituals a constant evil
Hatred and envy amidst saints in the church
Tribal killings getting out of reach

Gay and lesbianism on the high rise
Injustice eating away innocent lives
Malnutrition residing in a once happy home
Unemployment leading nations to doom

The sun does not shine bright anymore
Life is deprecatory worst than before
As I opened my eyes and behold the morning breeze
I prayed for man to be forgiven of his sins
