I WILL RATHER BE POOR

I will rather be poor than rule with an unjust king

I will rather be poor and live gracefully

Be a slave to my families, friends and neighbors

Than be wealthy, troubled, perplexed and restless with no one to turn to

I will rather get paid a minimum wage befitting a hardworking man

Live and die peacefully than get my heart nailed to a stick

I will rather be poor and walk by the street blindfolded

Not being scared of closing my eyes even when am walking in the dark

Have a good heart, a sane mind not troubled by my ordeals

Than be rich, worried, tormented and regretful of my doings

And be chased by my own shadow

I will rather be poor and be proud of the life i am living

Be a good example to my children and to the society

Work harder to affect lives and leave behind good memories

I will rather be poor and leave this world the same way i came

Free, happy, peaceful and with a grateful heart

You need someone to hold your hands and keep you warm

If for some reason you heart got broken and you want to cry

You need a shoulder that you can rely

If one night you got a call that you've lost a dear one

Don't beat yourself up, for comfort and love is not gone

If you get to the office one morning

And got a letter that you're fired

Its okay, you don't have to worry to take care of you until you are hired

If someday you feel lonely and need someone to talk to

I am always not be far from you to talk to

I will be there

If you are depressed, sad and feeling blue

You need someone over to take you out and make your night beautiful

If you have a problem you need someone to share with

I have got you covered; you have me to share them with

I will be there

I might not be there with you all through the night

But if you are down and need a friend whom you can trust

I have not been the same since I fell in love with you

In my dream I find myself kissing you

And I couldn't figure out what else to do

No one else touch my heart as much as you do

Maybe it's the reason why it’s lonely anything I am not with you

Every night spent without you, get me cold and lonely of thoughts of you

When am waking down the street, wished I bumped into you

My life has being beautiful when am with you

When I look at the mirror I see a reflection of you

Last night I dreamt  I was spending my world with you

Sometimes it's difficult to focus when I am not with you

Please tell me if am losing my mind for having feelings for you

A STRANGER IN LOVE

I meet this girl walking down the street

There was something about her; I felt it in my heart immediately I saw her

The night was heavy but I couldn't resist the guilt in my heart

Just walking by when I had a million reasons to approach her

When I looked into her eyes, I saw heaven and the beauty therein

I could see the stars smiling through her eyes

I fell in love with her despite we were complete strangers out of the blue

When she smile the virtues in my heart got attracted to her

I have never felt like this since junior high

I don't know if it is right for me to have this feeling

Or if it's wrong for me to fall in love with her

For she is a stranger I meet out of the blue

I was staring at the moon and praying in my heart

I wished the moon had stayed a bit longer a forth night

There was so much I wanted to tell her to get my feelings right

So we can get to know each other more for a start

For I have fallen in love with her, a stranger I meet out of the blue

For a moment I still felt like a kid, I was excited all through the night

Wished I had a picture of her on my cell phone

I would have stared at her all through the night

Every night I shall walk by the path where we meet 

Maybe I will catch a glimpse of her again tonight

WHY DO YOU HAVE TO GO?

I thought of a million reasons why you had to go

At a time when we were just getting along, you left my heart a hole

I thought of all the dreams we both shared

The comfort I feel anytime you are around

This is so wrong, you don't deserve this

How on earth am I supposed to let go the feelings?

The love, companionship, support and advice

Together we've worked hard in fulfilling our dreams

How can we lose you, a hero, and a brother to many?

A virtue that can never be refilled in lives of many

Thoughts of this is so confusing thinking about your departure

Damn, I am going to miss you greatly in the future

You don't have to get worried you aren't here to take care of me

I am aware that you're going to miss me

That you regret to put me through so such pain

I know you're sorry you were unable to say goodbye before it rain

I am glad you're in a better place now that we are far apart

A place where you don't have to hustle anymore

A place where there is no pain, regrets, disappointment and suffering

But with God in His heavenly abode rejoicing
Rest in peace our beloved brother

Though we met by chance
I was drunk and pushed by my lusty desire
I never meant to trouble your heart
That's why I tried stopped calling for a while
I have been having this persistent urge for me to see you
I am willing to go extra miles to prove I want you
Don't get me wrong, I appreciate everything about you
That’s why thoughts of you ignite my feelings
I feel so guilty for not being there for you
I was selfish; thought I couldn't fall in love with you
Despite I knew it was fate that led me to you
I now know one thing, that love can change anything
That if we allow love into our heart
Our perception of life will change completely
It's because of love that most relationship are fruitful today

Aren't you tired going on in this awkward life?

Trying to love someone so much

But he can't love you back the way you deserved

You lay down try to relax but your mind keeps wondering

Could it have been wrong to fall in love?

You gave up your pride, your precious heart

Your emotions, your soul and body

Just to please that one you truly love

You shed so many tears and sleepless nights

Trying to figure what you did that went wrong

You've tried everything for your relationship to work, but it’s no use

Your relationship keep crashing and you feel like dying

Can you stop and think for a while

Maybe the relationship was not meant to be

The book of love doesn't have an author

It's only God whom has access to our future

You've got a good heart, there is someone out there meant for you

He is longing to meet you and hold the candle for you

I AM INDEBTED

You took all my burden and bear the pains for me
I could not have witness so many tomorrow
You lead my path, always walking ahead of me
I feel your presence as the cloud covers the sky above me
Sometimes you talked to me through the birds
They sing to me each morning when I look out my window
I still don't have a clue why you have been good to me
Not that I am special or born with a silver spoon
I have never had the privilege others did
But you allow the sun to shine so bright on me
I must have been heavenly ordained and not know about it
Maybe its the reason you have been playing the same old tune
I am glad I now understand how to dance to the tune
No wonder I smile when people around me are worried
I don't need self protection, I have got nothing to be afraid off
In my dreams I see your presence in the shadow
The future may be unknown, but I don't beat myself about tomorrow
I know with you it has already been taken care off
I can't start listing my blessings, it can't be contained in a book
I can't start to talk about them, because time will never be enough
I can only imagine myself in a sea of your love that runs dry
Today, I can stand upright and walk in midst a thousand enemies
They can't harm me for there weapons are carnal
For they can not withstand the test of time
If today I work for another 50 years
I still will not be able to pay back a quarter of what you have done for me

My world has being beautiful since the day I met you

Your kisses gave the night life and made her smile

I was shading away from life with a heart broken

Then you came along and saved me a day the sky was gray

Ever since I have been leaning my love on you

I was lost and lonely, and couldn't find a way back home

The world was upside down and I couldn't face reality

You came out of the blue and took away the pains in my heart

Your hands I wouldn't let go even in my afterlife

For you I wear a smile even in my sleep

You refuge a heart neglected and broken

My heart was lost but your love brought her back

And life once more became beautiful since she got a touch of you

SLEEPLESS NIGHTS

It's being sleepless nights, the heart and mind tormented

Eyes can’t be shut without thoughts of thousands dying everyday

All that's left are memories, smile and love lost to wickedness and hatred

Hope deprived on our street, love deserted in midst the people

Everyone is a victim, the sun shut from our heart

Tears shed for corpse victimized by evil blooded heart

The living left with doubts and fear despite the words of thy Lord

Death gladly acquire the soul of brothers and sisters

Sojourned on a journey of thousand years

The moon's quiet and sober, the star mournful from afar

Thousand souls lost, misjudged without consent for the grieved

Life's unappreciated, disregarded and destroyed

Many years of uncalled slavery, selfishness and discontentment

A thousand candles light in my heart for the beloved lost unwholesomely

A prayer for her souls to find eternal restoration and rest

May thy will be upon man, and hatred, wickedness chased from our mist

Tears dried from our eyes and the night deemed with laughter and joy

And love broken back into hearts shed into pieces

Every night in my dreams I see and feel you
The feelings for you got all written in my heart
The moon stares at me through my window with a smile
I saw you in the shadow kissing me
Your smile light up a candle in my heart
Only you know the track which leads to my heart
I pray for the night to stay a bit longer
I don't want to give up memories dreamt of you
When I am lying on the bed, you were an angel beside me
On a journey to life, you are my companion all through 
Life wouldn't break me if everything got left behind

Life isn't easy
If it was, I wouldn't have to work so hard
I am leaning all my efforts to God
He gives me the grace to wake up each morning
I have got to work so hard 
Make the best out of life and myself

how life has been all this years

You send down rain to water the droughts in my life
I have been keeping my hopes so high
You have kept me out of harms way
Been a friend when I had no one to turn to
Life has never been fair to mankind

Life is so brief; the journey is swift like driving on a high way

Yesterday i was a kid but now i am a grown man

If the future is dark and you cannot see through

There’s a sun so bright that will light our way through

If there is a shadow upon your dreams

A candle can show you the path to fulfill your dreams

If you are on a journey that cuts across a mountain that's high

If you believe in your heart, then you know you can fly

Hold on to the rope of faith and pull yourself up

Miracles happens every day for those who don't give up

There is always room for you if you can believe

It matters when you come across an obstacle

And the means you choose to fight it through

No trouble, challenges or pain can last all tomorrow

Don't let people talk you down that you can't make it

Look inside the person in you and tell him you can achieve it

They don't know you better than you know yourself

If you don't run, you will be limiting yourself

I saw a world in my dream

A world where questions are not asked

A world where man can walk on water

A world where there is no night and day

A world where you can lift your hands and touch the sky

A world you don't need money to feed

A world in which injustice cannot be tolerated

A world where there are no countries and states

A world where there are no religion or tribe

A world you don't fall sick of imperfection and pollution of the earth

A world you live where ever your feet takes you to

A world where we speak but one language

A world you don't necessary need an education

A world where everyman learns how to survive as he grows

A world in which there are no clouds but memories that covers the sky

A world where wishes do come true

A world I keep seeing in my head

A world yet known to mankind

I GOT YOUR LETTER YESTERDAY

I am entangled with doubts of my feelings

I had plans we took a flight through life valley

With scene shots of two birds kissing on the bridge

I couldn't take a decision without thoughts of you

The sky couldn't smile the rest of the day without you

The night's quiet and jilted of her beauty

I stood and gazed wild into the world

I couldn't find a trace of the stars above my head

What i have left are memories, wishes and dreams

For days i couldn't take a trip back to Lagos

Unconsciously i have lost the zest and appetite for life as such

I am blindfolded in my heart for that one love i cherish

With tears in my eyes i read soberly between the lines

She tells me you were sorry and had to fly away

But you took the key to my heart and left the door wide open yesterday

My heart is left ajar; i am fragile and vulnerable without you

She told me you missed the kisses and the warmth at night

But you've left me in the cold all through the night

I can’t fight these feelings anymore as much did i yesterday

I went on errands and fetch you my heart hoping you'll stay

Everything i believed in is no longer thoughts of yesterday

I wished i was good enough for you today

And wished i never got your letter yesterday

A MINUTE TO MIDNIGHT

As the clock ticks so does the memories of the day
Memories of a man hustling to make earns meet
Memories of families mourning the death of a beloved brother
Memories of stress at the office and the challenges of life
Memories of a friend whom gave companionship to a man that is sad and miserable
Memories of loved ones, the joy and laughter they bring
Memories of the pains we go through each day as it makes us strong
Every second reflect the heartbeat of life we have left
A few seconds can change our memories for a life time
A second more takes us into a brand new day, unknown of its shortcoming
Every second in our life tends to be treasured
Every second the heart beats like lots of tiny star
That makes up the brightness of the sky and her beauty at night
It gives life to the night and makes her smile
It gives a man strength and hope that happiness is not far
As the clock bell ticks, so does life moments of time we spent on earth
It's a minute to midnight; i stare as life goes by
Conscious that another day is fast approaching by
